The Core Values of Edgewood Bible Church
We love God, so we will preach the Word.
All of Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for correction and training. The Word of God is sharper than a two edged sword giving godly discernment to us. Because of the sufficiency of Scripture, we recognize that it is invaluable for our lives. We will preach the Gospel every week through the means of Expository preaching in a Sunday services. Nothing else has the transforming power for the church but the Word of God plainly set forth in preaching, in teaching and in living.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, John 20:31, 2 Corinthians 4:2)
We love one another, so we will disciple one another.
Jesus told us that everyone will know that we are His disciples if we love one another and if we love one another and love God, we will be obedient to his Word. God told us to go into the world and make disciples, teaching them to observe all things He has commanded us. People are transformed and renewed in the likeness of Christ when they look at God as He has revealed himself in both His written and His incarnate Word. Our job as the church is to show people a reflection of Jesus.
(John 13:35, John 14:15, Matthew 28:18-20)
We love the nations, so we will send the Church.
The Good News of the Gospel cannot be hoarded, it must be given out. To be faithful to the Scriptures, the Gospel must go forth to the nations. We cannot be satisfied with self-absorption. God gave us His only Son, so we should be passionate about sharing the Gospel with those that need to hear in all nations. How will they believe in Christ if they don’t have a messenger?
(John 3:16, Revelation 7:9, Romans 10:13-15)
