What to expect?

Sunday Morning Core Seminars, All Ages
On Sunday morning, beginning at 9:15am, we come together for an hour for our core seminar programs, in which we learn about God’s Word and its application to all areas of life. We have nursery, as well as classes from pre-kindergarten to adult. Following that, we begin our Sunday morning service at 10:30am.

Families, please note that check-in for nursery and children's classes during the morning service begins at 10:15am. We recommend arriving by 10:15am to allow time for the check-in process.

Worship Hour
We have coffee and tea available in the lobby, so you’re welcome to grab a beverage and bring it into the service with you. Our services formally start at 10:30am with a few announcements led by an elder or a pastoral staff member. We then transition into worship. We sing three to four songs collectively, read scripture together, and offer praise and confession to God. A 40-45 minute expository sermon then follows.

Music
The music we sing at EBC is a blend of old and new. We love the doctrinally rich hymns of the sixteenth century and we find blessing in the choruses of the twenty-first. Most of us who are comfortable with music from one particular era have discovered, while at EBC, that we have come to enjoy other songs we had not previously encountered.

Sermons
Preaching at EBC is generally expositional, meaning that it seeks to declare the point of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last around 40 to 45 minutes and are packed with material for reflection. On a regular basis, our sermon series alternate between the Old and New Testaments. All preaching is driven by the Gospel, the Bible’s main message of God saving sinners through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Post Sermon
We sing a song encapsulating the theme of the sermon and then dismissed with the Benediction. A typical service is finished by 12:00 pm. We provide light refreshments in the MPB immediately after the service to encourage fellowship. An hour later, you might still find folks talking over the sermon and events of the past week.

For Parents

What should I expect when I arrive?
The nursery check-in desk, for birth through 3 year old’s, is located next to the Multipurpose Building (MPB), in the Chapel building downstairs.

If you would like to have a smoother drop-off experience, an email message can be sent to EBC@EdgewoodBibleChurch.org  the Thursday before your Sunday visit. The name and age of the child would be appreciated. You are also welcome to call the office with that information: 253.927.2767.

Who is taking care of my child?
During our Sunday school hour your child is with a teacher and helper that leads their class. You should gather your children right after the completion of the hour (at 10:15am) and take them into the service with you. If your child is in the nursery, they can stay during the break and continue with the least amount of upheaval right through to the end of worship service.

During the worship service, we encourage all children to sit with their parents during the singing and offering. Following offering there will be a transition time in which the children will be dismissed to their children’s church classes. The children (pre-kindergarten children through 3rd grade) will line up in the foyer. Nursery is continuously open for birth to 3 year olds.

Detailed background checks are done on all teachers and helpers. They each receive training on policies and procedures each school year.

Will my child be fed?
We will be happy to give your infant or toddler a snack you have provided for them. Please make sure the attendants are aware of this information. All liquids must be in a labeled plastic bottle or cup. The snack must be finger foods only. Any special instructions can be listed on the infant/toddler sticker provided at the check-in desk. Children with special instructions will be given snacks in accordance with the instructions provided. Food allergies can be noted on the child’s security name tag. Those children will be given snacks in cooperation with the instructions provided.

All other children (two years old through pre-k) will received goldfish/animal crackers and water.
